According to British assessments, the war of aggression against Ukraine has serious consequences for Russia’s health system.
According to the British, important civil services in Russia such as hospitals are suffering from the consequences of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. The reason for this was the huge human and financial resources that were made available for the war, said the British Ministry of Defense. “The number of medical professionals in Russia will continue to decline throughout 2024.”
As a replacement, Russia is recruiting medical staff in Africa, it said, citing the Center for European Policy Analysis think tank in Washington. These employees therefore do not have to provide any proof of qualifications other than a self-assessment. The British ministry emphasized that the approach endangers clinical services.
The authority quoted the Russian parliamentary speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, who spoke of 30,000 missing doctors at the beginning of April. In district hospitals the shortage is around 50 percent. This is a slight increase compared to November 2023. The reason is that some skilled workers have switched to private providers and others have left the country. Around 2 percent of the doctors and specialist staff left to avoid the partial mobilization in September 2022, it said in London.
Ukraine has been defending itself against Russian attack for more than two years. Since then, the British Ministry of Defense has regularly published information on the course of the war. Moscow accuses London of disinformation.
