In view of the expected rapid spread of the Omikron variant of the coronavirus, new restrictions will be placed on people in Germany. Vaccinated people should also limit their contacts, albeit less severely than unvaccinated people.
The resolutions of Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and the Prime Ministers of Tuesday evening in detail:
VACCINATIONS
The federal and state governments continue to call on people in the country to have vaccinations and booster vaccinations against the corona virus. They promise: “The vaccination campaign will continue over Christmas, on the days between Christmas and New Year’s Eve and on New Year’s Eve.” A further 30 million corona vaccinations are to be carried out by the end of January. Vaccination offers for children are to be expanded.
VACCINATION REQUIREMENT
The federal states ask the federal government to press ahead with the preparations for the introduction of a general compulsory vaccination and to present a schedule at short notice.
CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURES
The operators of critical infrastructures such as electricity or energy supply should prepare for increasing numbers of infections with the Omikron variant.
2G
The 2G rule continues to apply to cultural and leisure facilities and large parts of the retail sector, so you have to prove a vaccination or recovery from a Covid 19 disease. An additional test can also be prescribed.
PRIVATE MEETING
If people who have not been vaccinated or who have not recovered participate, only members of one household and two people from another household are allowed to meet inside and outside. Children up to their 14th birthday are excluded. Spouses and life partners are considered to be one household, even if they do not have a common place of residence. For those who have been vaccinated and recovered, the following applies from December 28th at the latest: A maximum of ten people may come together, not including children.
TEST REQUIRED
Unvaccinated people are still only allowed to use the daily quick test to work as well as local and long-distance trains.
CAUTION
The federal and state governments call on citizens to voluntarily limit contact, hygiene measures, distance and precautionary tests.
SILVESTERBÖLLER
New Year’s and New Year’s gatherings are prohibited. As already decided, there should be no New Year’s Eve fireworks in public places designated by the municipalities, the sale of firecrackers is prohibited.
CLUBS AND DISCOUNTS
By December 28th at the latest, indoor clubs and discos are to close and dance events are to be banned.
LARGE EVENTS
Major national events will take place without spectators from December 28th at the latest.
HOW IT GOES ON
The Federal Chancellor and the heads of government of the federal states want to meet again on January 7th. Until then, based on the recommendations of the Expert Council, the federal government should present plans with further measures to contain the Omikron variant. If necessary, an adjustment of the Corona economic aid should be prepared.
