Israel’s ambassador to Germany, Ron Prosor, speaks in an interview of the “deterrence” that is now needed from Israel. However, the country is limited to certain targets in Iran.
After the Iranian attack on Israel, the Israeli ambassador to Germany, Ron Prosor, announced a counterattack on Iranian military facilities. Israel will not attack any civilian targets, although Tehran’s attacks were also aimed at civilian targets, Prosor told the news channel Welt TV on Tuesday.
The Israeli response will be directed “against these military installations of the mullahs and the ayatollahs.” This cannot be done without: “We have to react to it. It is also important for the region that this deterrence – also in this region – is very clear.”
Israel expects understanding from allies
Prosor underlined Israel’s determination to counterattack, but did not give any details. “When, where and how – that will be decided by our war cabinet,” he said. He called on allies to understand Israel’s position and impose tougher sanctions. “First of all, we listen – to our friends – so the United States, Great Britain, Germany. But I would like to remind you that Iran has now fired over 300 rockets against Israel without provocation, to do everything, really, to kill Israeli civilians . And we have to respond to it.”
With a view to Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock’s recent visit to Israel, he warned that “Mrs. Baerbock and Europe” should impose sanctions against the Revolutionary Guards “and really tackle this mullah and ayatollah regime.”
