China spies on military technology

One of those arrested is said to have worked as an agent for an employee of the Chinese secret service MSS living in China. On behalf of this person, the man in Germany obtained information about innovative technologies that could be used militarily. In exchange for payment, special lasers are said to have been delivered to the MSS in China without authorization, although the instrument is subject to the EU’s dual-use regulation for both civil and possible military use. The arrests were largely based on findings from the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office said.
