Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow will not be like Ukraine, whose authorities prohibit Russian journalists from working in the country, so Ukrainian journalist Roman Tsimbalyuk is allowed to participate in Vladimir Putin’s press conference on December 23.
“This is really a Ukrainian journalist who works in the Russian Federation. We do not want to be like the Ukrainian authorities, which expelled all Russian journalists from Kiev long ago, ”said Peskov on the air of Channel One.
In addition, he noted that the current law on mass media in Russia provides equal rights to both Russian media resources and foreign ones. Meanwhile, only a court can recognize a person in violation of the law.
On December 8, RT journalist Yulia Vityazeva on the Telegram channel reported that Roman Tsymbalyuk, a journalist from the Ukrainian news agency UNIAN, had been summoned for questioning to the Moscow prosecutor’s office.
He is accused of provoking hostility and hatred towards the citizens of the Russian Federation and the Russian authorities. The reason for this was the videos that were published on the Tsymbalyuk YouTube channel. Signs of the above violations may, in particular, contain the video “The bottom has broken again: on the air of” Russia 1 “they called to hang Ukrainians on the lanterns.”
According to the managing partner of Leges-Bureau, a member of the Russian Lawyers’ Association Maria Spiridonova, Tsymbalyuk could face either a fine of 10,000 to 20,000 rubles, or compulsory work up to 100 hours, or administrative arrest up to 15 days. The corresponding punishment is provided for the commission of a crime under Art. 20.3.1 of the RF Code of Administrative Offenses.
She also stressed that foreign citizens are responsible on the territory of Russia on an equal basis with citizens of the Russian Federation.
