Annual press conference of Vladimir Putin. Broadcast

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, December 23, holds an annual face-to-face press conference at the Manezh Central Exhibition Hall in Moscow.

As a rule, more than 1,000 journalists, including foreign ones, are invited to this event. However, this year the number of seats is limited to 500 due to the spread of the coronavirus in the world.

For the same reason, the format of the press conference had to be changed in 2020. For example, some of the media representatives were with Putin at his residence near Moscow in Novo-Ogaryovo, while the other part communicated with him via video link from the World Trade Center in Moscow. In addition to journalists, Russians could ask their questions to the head of state. Thus, simultaneously with the conversation with the media, the president’s traditional direct line took place.

Last year, the event lasted 4 hours and 29 minutes, during which time Putin answered more than 60 questions. More than 7.3 million Russians living in big cities watched the press conference of the head of state on TV channels.

The President of the Russian Federation has been holding a meeting with journalists in the format of a large press conference every year since 2001. The event did not take place only during the period when Putin was prime minister, that is, from May 2008 to May 2012.
