After the espionage accusation against his employee, Maximilian Krah went into hiding. Compared to the star and RTL, the AfD politician is now speaking out – with an accusation against the security authorities.
The AfD politician Maximilian Krah accuses the German security authorities of deliberately placing the arrest of his employee Jian G. on charges of spying for China before the European elections in order to harm his party. “The security authorities never warned or informed me, contrary to their duty, at any time,” Krah told the newspaper star and RTL. “The security authorities obviously had knowledge, didn’t inform me and dropped the bomb shortly before the election date. That’s quite remarkable.” The timing and manner of action were “not a coincidence,” said the top candidate for the European elections. “I hope that people believe that even if they are not AfD-affiliated.”
At the same time, Krah offered the authorities his cooperation in solving the case. “I will proactively seek contact with the Federal Prosecutor’s Office. On the one hand, to clarify what is happening. But also to have a conversation about the extent to which I can help with the clarification,” said the 47-year-old. “Mr. G. had no access to secret documents or closed circles. And he never asked for them either. This means that his entire knowledge extends to freely accessible sources and what he himself picked up during our office discussions or public events. “
Krah is not taking part in the start of the election campaign, but emphasizes: “I am and will remain the top candidate”

Maximilian Krah: “I’m shocked”
Krah emphasized that he was very disappointed in his employee. “I have to admit I’m shocked,” he told the star. “That I’m still partly unsure as to whether I completely believe all of this and that’s why I’m so interested in an explanatory meeting with the Federal Prosecutor’s Office. I’ll certainly sit down for the upcoming trial in Dresden to get my own opinion.”
The police arrested Krah’s employee in Dresden last week. She accuses him of spying for China in a particularly serious case. Jian G. is said to have passed on information from parliamentary operations and spied on the Chinese opposition movement in Germany. The case puts a strain on the AfD, which is already plagued by a series of crises. After the arrest, the party leadership summoned the employee Krah for an interview. Formally, he remains the top candidate for the European elections, but he should take a back seat and forego major campaign dates. Krah’s posters will also no longer be used for the time being.
