Italy in turmoil: Regional President Giovanni Toti has apparently built a system of intelligence, power and corruption. He is now under investigation. And the Italians ask themselves: Didn’t all of this happen before?
It was 30 years ago when old Italy collapsed. The Italy of corruption, nepotism, that of fraud and false papers. Parties collapsed back then, but hope emerged. Today fear is growing again south of the Alps: Is the old Italy on the verge of a resurrection? Does it return, no, worse still: Was it never gone?
