Did four people have to die in Mallorca because a renovation was botched? After the collapse of the “Medusa” restaurant, pressing questions arise. Impressions from a holiday resort that many have already declared to be in need of complete renovation.
The guests were supposed to be comfortable on the new roof terrace. Under umbrellas made of reeds, with colorful cocktails, right on the sparkling Mediterranean. The “Medusa Beach Club”, which was just a plain TexMex restaurant years ago, was now one of the more modern addresses in the place that the locals call the Platja de Palma and the Germans simply call the Ballermann. It stood for an image change that has been underway here for years: Mallorca wants to be a bit more like Ibiza, more classy, more high-quality.
