In the southern Polish highlands, people trust in God, traditions – and money from Brussels. But some feel overwhelmed by the European idea. A visit to Nowy Targ, the capital of the highlands.

Faith in God gives strength to many people, and so it is with Waldemar Wojtaszek. On his right wrist he wears a silver bracelet with the inscription Trust the Lord with all your heart. Because even if others are rude or impertinent: “You yourself must always remain correct.”
