For the second time, Health Minister Wolfgang Mckstein (Grne) has been dismissed with his demand: As in the previous week, his department urged the government’s Corona task force to tighten the rules for travelers returning from yesterday.
After the meeting at cabinet level, his office and the Chancellery said almost identically: It was a “good, constructive working session”, there were no changes – for the time being – neither in risk areas nor compulsory testing. For the summer vacation this means: Anyone who comes to Austria from a country classified as having a “low epidemiological risk” (this includes the EU countries) must present a 3G certificate upon entry or do a test within 24 hours at the latest and submit it before entry Fill out the form. According to the Ministry of Health, whether this actually happens will be checked “randomly” by the district administrative authorities. It was not possible to find out yesterday how many people entering Austria without 3G and would have to be checked.
Speaking of risk: The traffic light commission has classified Salzburg as the first federal state to be “red” again, but the overall systemic risk is also rated as “low” there.
As the latest AGES data show, the number of infections is increasing, especially among younger people, who are often unvaccinated. Half of all newly infected people were younger than 25 in the previous week, and those aged 15 to 24 are the age group with the highest seven-day incidence.
