Parties: Survey: AfD loses in Sunday poll, SPD in second place

In a recent Insa survey, the AfD is slipping in voter popularity, while the SPD is maintaining its position. The CDU remains the strongest force.

According to a survey, the AfD is once again losing voter support. In a survey published on Tuesday by the Insa Institute for the “Bild” newspaper, 15.5 percent (-0.5) of respondents said they would vote for the AfD if there were a federal election on Sunday. This puts the party behind the SPD in second place, which, as in the previous survey, is at 16 percent. For the AfD, the current value in the Insa survey is the worst value since March 2023.

The CDU/CSU remains the strongest party with 30.5 percent. The Greens and FDP are at 12 and 5 percent respectively. The Left Party has 3.5 percent, and 7.5 percent of those surveyed would vote for the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW). The institute surveyed citizens between May 31 and June 3, 2002.

Election polls are generally always subject to uncertainty. Among other things, declining party ties and increasingly short-term voting decisions make it more difficult for opinion research institutes to weight the data collected. In principle, polls only reflect the opinion at the time of the survey and are not predictions of the election outcome.
