Within a week, the police repeatedly searched properties and objects belonging to supporters of the “Reich Citizen” ideologist Heinrich XIII Prince Reuss. This time, the officers are investigating in Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt.
There is a new raid in connection with the investigations into the alleged terrorist group of “Reich Citizens” around Heinrich XIII Prince Reuss. “We have been searching several locations in Lower Saxony and one location in Saxony-Anhalt since this morning,” a spokeswoman for the Celle Public Prosecutor’s Office told the DPA on Tuesday. “The measures are ongoing.” The “Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung” was the first to report on this.
The Celle Public Prosecutor’s Office has taken over seven cases involving 13 defendants from the Federal Prosecutor General in the Reuss complex. The Celle Public Prosecutor’s Office is home to Lower Saxony’s Central Office for Combating Terrorism.
Trials against “Reichsbürger” for alleged plans for a coup
In three mammoth trials in Stuttgart, Frankfurt am Main and Munich, a total of 26 alleged conspirators around Reuss have to answer for their actions. They are accused of having planned a violent coup. According to the prosecution, Reuss himself should have acted as head of a new form of government. Among the defendants are a former police officer from the Hanover police department who was removed from service, a financial advisor from the Harburg district, a lawyer from Hanover and a doctor from the Peine district.
The Federal Prosecutor’s Office passes so-called less serious cases on to the states. These are proceedings against alleged supporters who, unlike the accused, are not in custody.
The so-called “Reichsbürger” in Germany claim that the German Reich (1871-1945) continues to exist, hence their name. They do not recognize the Federal Republic and its laws.
