Voluntary military service alone will not be enough in the medium term, says the military commissioner Eva Högl (SPD). However, she sees an important approach not only for young people.

The military service model is not about saving the Bundeswehr. The proposed model will help to put society as a whole in a position to defend our peace and our freedom. It can also help to reduce personnel problems in the Bundeswehr.
Pistorius calls it “making society fit for war”. How happy are you with the term?
I think it is right that the Minister of Defense uses clear words to describe the situation. I personally prefer to say “ready for defense.”
