I worked as a detective in the criminal investigation department for almost 20 years.Then I switched to the police force because I want to be there more for people on the street. The situation is tense in terms of personnel. This is still due to the fact that so much was cut in the early 2000s. The number of sick days has also increased since the pandemic.

We have a lot of different tasks to complete that tie up our resources. Since the Middle East crisis, for example, the area of property protection has become even more of a focus. In Berlin, there is actually a central property protection unit with 1,400 people, but that is currently not enough to protect Jewish institutions.
