Russia’s censorship is getting stricter: The Foreign Ministry has published a list according to which numerous media outlets are blocked in Russia. These include German newspapers such as “Der Spiegel” and “Die Zeit”.
Russia is sanctioning access to European media in its own country, thereby imposing retaliatory measures for similar steps by the EU. The Foreign Ministry in Moscow announced on Tuesday that the ban applies to various press houses from around 25 EU countries, including “Der Spiegel”, “Zeit” and “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” from Germany.
Russia accuses European media of “systematically misinforming” about the Ukraine war
The ministry published a list of 81 media companies from EU countries and other European states. Their content or broadcasts are no longer available on Russian territory. The Foreign Ministry accused the media of spreading “systematically false information” about the Ukraine conflict.
The ban also affects, among others, “El Mundo” and “El Pais” from Spain, “Le Monde”, “Liberation” as well as Radio France and the news agency AFP from France and “La Stampa”, “La Repubblica” and RAI from Italy.
