US presidential candidate Donald Trump wants to end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours. Now Ukrainian President Zelensky is calling on him to get down to business.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wants clarity from Donald Trump about how he intends to end the war in 24 hours. “If Trump knows how to end this war, he should tell us today,” Zelensky said in an interview with Bloomberg TV. “If there are risks to Ukraine’s independence, if we lose our statehood – we want to be prepared for that, we want to know that.”
The former US president and candidate for the upcoming presidential election has repeatedly claimed that he could end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours. However, Trump has never revealed any details for this claim.
In the interview, Zelenskyj declared his willingness to meet with Trump and his team and listen to their suggestions. “We want to understand whether we will have the powerful support of the USA in November (after the US elections) or whether we will be alone then.”
In this context, Zelensky reiterated his opposition to a ceasefire, as proposed the day before by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Urban. Whoever put forward such a proposal was unable to articulate how it could work. “Nobody has a solution,” said Zelensky.
