During the night, Ukraine attacked several southern Russian regions. Among other things, a residential building in a small town near a Russian air base was hit.
According to official reports, a child has died in Ukrainian drone attacks on targets in southern Russia. A six-year-old girl died in hospital from injuries sustained in a drone attack on the city of Primorsko-Akhtarsk, wrote the governor of the Krasnodar region, Veniamin Kondratiev, on Telegram. Another five people were injured. According to the governor, a three-story residential building was badly damaged by debris from a downed drone. There is an air base near Primorsko-Akhtarsk from where Russian drones regularly take off for Ukraine.
According to media reports, a transformer substation was also hit in the small town on the coast of the Sea of Azov. Videos shared on social networks are said to show the moment of the explosion.
Media: Refinery near Rostov attacked
The neighboring region of Rostov-on-Don was also affected by the attacks. Governor Vasily Golubyev wrote that air defenses had intercepted all drones, so that only isolated “fires in the countryside” had occurred. The independent portal Astra, in turn, reported that an oil refinery in the area had been hit. The extent of the damage is not known.
In the Kursk region, which also borders Ukraine, there is damage to a music school and several shops in a village following a drone attack, according to Governor Alexei Smirnov.
The Defense Ministry in Moscow reported the shooting down of 14 drones over the Krasnodar region, 10 drones over the Rostov region and 26 drones over the part of the southern Ukrainian region of Zaporizhia annexed by Russia. The military traditionally did not provide any information on damage.
Since Russia began its war of aggression against Ukraine more than two years ago, it has regularly shelled civilian objects in the hinterland of the neighboring country. But the regions near the border in Russia are also complaining about increasing shelling from the Ukrainian side. However, the number of victims and the extent of the damage are disproportionate to the destruction caused by Russia.
