Anya (right), 59, and her husband Dave, 62, are enthusiastic musical-goers. On the evening after the election, the couple went to see the Broadway classic “Kiss Me, Kate”. Both voted for Labour.
Anya: “I’m absolutely thrilled. I remember the last time Labour won. We had just gotten married. But this year the victory feels even more significant. People are fed up with 14 years of Tory chaos. That’s why it was so important that Labour achieved a strong result. It will be difficult, definitely. The new government has so many problems to solve. The economic situation, the broken NHS health system, the poverty in the country… But the biggest task will be to restore people’s trust in politics.”
Dave: “I have high hopes for Starmer. He is not your typical politician. He comes from a different background and I trust he will keep his promises. But it will take time.”
