According to the Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump has one less worry when it comes to campaign financing: billionaire Elon Musk plans to transfer him a decent amount every month.
According to a newspaper report, tech billionaire Elon Musk wants to provide massive financial support to the election campaign of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Musk wants to provide around $45 million a month to a pro-Trump super PAC, reported the Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter. According to the report, Musk has already made an unspecified donation to the America PAC.
Elon Musk would have considerable influence
Last week, the Bloomberg agency also reported on a donation from Musk to the Trump supporter group. However, the South African-born man does not appear in a donation list now submitted by the group, which shows income of more than eight million dollars.
The “Political Action Committees” (PACs) are allowed to raise any amount they want, but are not under the control of the candidates themselves. Prominent supporters of the “America PAC” include Lonsdale Enterprises with a donation of one million dollars and investors and “crypto twins” Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss with $250,000 each. Musk’s planned financial commitment would far exceed these contributions and could significantly influence the dynamics of the election campaign.
