Deputies of the State Duma (DG) of the Russian Federation will do everything to ensure that the bill on life imprisonment for recidivist pedophiles was adopted in January 2022. This was announced on January 5 by the speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.
“We will do everything so that the law on life imprisonment for pedophiles was adopted in January. Society supports the most severe measures against those who were previously convicted of child abuse, ”Volodin wrote on Telegram.
Thus, he commented on the murder of a five-year-old girl in Kostroma. The child was abused on January 4 by two men, after which the girl was killed.
One of the suspects, who confessed to the crime, had previously served a sentence for a crime against sexual inviolability and trafficking in pornography.
According to the investigation, the girl went for a walk on Severnaya Pravda Street, after which she was taken by two men and disappeared with the child in an unknown direction. In the course of operational-search activities, investigators found the body of the deceased with multiple stab wounds in a room of one of the hostels. A criminal case was initiated on the fact of the murder under Part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Murder of a minor”).
Earlier, on December 21, the State Duma in the first reading adopted a bill on life imprisonment for previously convicted pedophiles.
According to the amendments, for repeated crimes of sexual assault and committed against minors under 18 years of age, a sentence of life imprisonment is proposed.
In addition, in relation to persons who have committed crimes against two or more minors, a sentence of life imprisonment is also proposed. The same applies to cases when the crime is associated with the commission of another grave or especially grave crime.
