When on vacation, the Chancellor also likes to relax to recover from stress. But his biggest wish for the summer is a political one.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz also likes to take it easy on vacation. When asked in the ARD’s “Interview of the Week” whether he could be lazy on vacation, the SPD politician said: “I can do that pretty well. Even when I jog, for example, I’m not one of those people who listen to music and think about complicated things. I jog.”
Scholz did not reveal where he plans to go on his summer vacation. He will report on that later. The Chancellor did, however, let us know what he hopes to achieve with his days off. “I’m looking forward to peace and quiet, to being able to do sports, to being able to enjoy the landscape, to being able to read books and to simply having a lot of time with my wife.” Scholz believes that running is a good way to relax. “The same applies on vacation, of course. When you’re sitting there, you can just look at the sun.”
Scholz’s greatest wish for the summer is, however, a highly political one. “The greatest wish would be for Russia to end the war against Ukraine. Because what is happening there is so terrible.”
