And now the next generation of the family is starting to drum up support for “Grandpa Donald.” Granddaughter Kai Madison Trump celebrated her debut as a laudatory speaker for the 78-year-old at the Republican Party Convention in Milwaukee, painting a picture of a loving grandfather.
“This is her first time on stage,” Trump’s son Don Jr. announced his eldest daughter. “Kai Madison Trump!” What the 17-year-old had to say next brought a permanent smile to Donald Trump’s face.

“I’m speaking today to show a side of my grandfather that people don’t often see,” she began her speech. “To me, he’s just a regular grandpa. He gives us candy and soda when our parents aren’t looking. He always wants to know how we’re doing in school. When I made the High Honor Roll, he told his friends how proud he was of me.”
Even in the middle of the school day, Trump calls her to ask how her golf game is going and tells her all about his, the granddaughter said. “But then I have to remind him that I’m at school and have to call him back later.”
Her grandfather always encourages her to try hard, reported Kai Trump. “Of course he sets the bar pretty high – but who knows, maybe one day I’ll catch up to him.”

The 17-year-old also spoke about the assassination attempt on her grandfather last weekend at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. “On Saturday, I was shocked when I heard that he had been shot,” she said. “I just wanted to know if he was OK.”
It broke her heart that someone could do something like that to another human being, Kai said. Trump had to “go through hell” because of many people, “but he’s still standing.” Then she called out to the ex-president: “Grandpa: you are an inspiration and I love you.”

The media made Donald Trump seem like a different person, but she knows him for who he really is, Kai Trump concluded her speech. “He is very caring and loving. He really wants the best for this country and he will fight every single day to make America great again.”
Donald Trump was visibly pleased with his granddaughter’s performance. From the stands, he beamed at Kai Trump almost the whole time. The newly elected presidential candidate will not give a speech until the end of the party convention on Friday (local time), but will be at the Fiserv Forum every day.
Kai Trump is the eldest of the former president’s ten grandchildren. Her mother is Vanessa Kay Trump, who was married to Donald Trump Jr. for 13 years. The 46-year-old former model from New York and the Trump offspring divorced in 2018. Vanessa was also at the Fiserv Forum and sat there with Donald Jr. and their other children. Kai has four siblings, Donald John III, Tristan Milos, Spencer Frederick and Chloe Sophia. Kai is named after her maternal great-grandfather.

The 17-year-old is an enthusiastic golfer and lives out her passion for the sport on social media. Nine months ago, she opened a YouTube channel and announced that she would be posting golf videos, clips with her coaches, surveys and FAQs, among other things, and that she was also planning collaborations with golf influencers. Since then, however, only one more video has appeared there, showing Kai Trump practicing his tee shot.
Kai Trump wants to become a professional golfer
The Trump granddaughter uses her Instagram account much more. There she posts a series of pictures of herself golfing – including some with “Grandpa Donald”. Kai Trump says she started playing golf when she was two years old and wants to become a professional golfer. But she also does other sports. “I love playing pickleball with my friends. I like playing tennis, I like to train, I love the sea, diving, […] and I like spending time with my friends,” she described her leisure activities in a video titled “Get to Know Me” last year.
But Kai is not only a sporty young woman, but also a political one. In June, she posted a picture on Instagram of herself with her grandfather at a Turning Point USA event in Detroit. The right-wing non-profit organization advocates for conservative politics in high schools, colleges and universities.
And after the attack on her grandfather, Kai Trump posted the iconic photo showing Donald Trump on the campaign stage with blood on his face and his fist raised, and wrote: “We love you, Grandpa. Never stop fighting!”
