Since autumn 2022, the wide lower reaches of the Dnipro River have separated Russian and Ukrainian soldiers. But things are not quiet on this front.
According to authorities, two women were killed in a village in southern Ukraine by Russian artillery fire across the Dnipro River. Several people were also injured, including a doctor, said Olexander Prokudin, military governor of the Kherson region.
According to his information on Telegram, Russian troops fired 40 shells from a rocket artillery launcher at the village of Biloserka on the north bank of the Dnipro River at night. About 60 houses were damaged. A woman was killed in her house. A second dead woman was later discovered under the rubble.
Biloserka, like the entire area around Kherson, was occupied at the beginning of the Russian invasion in spring 2022. In late autumn 2022, however, Russian troops had to abandon the area under pressure. Since then, the wide lower reaches of the Dnipro have formed the front line in most places. The Defense Ministry in Moscow announced, without specifying the exact location, that Russian artillery had knocked out the command center of a Ukrainian battalion on the other bank of the river.
Injured in frontline town near Kharkiv
In the town of Chuhuiv in the eastern Kharkiv region, nine people were injured by Russian shelling, military governor Oleh Synjehubov said. Several buildings were damaged. Numerous cars burned out. The governor did not say what weapons were used to attack the town. Chuhuiv is an important transport hub for supplying Ukrainian units on the front east of Kharkiv. Ukraine has been fending off a Russian invasion for almost two and a half years.
The Russian military reported Ukrainian drone attacks on border areas during the night.
