Kamala Harris has been the Democratic presidential candidate for less than a week. Her election campaign is already in full swing.
Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has released her first campaign ad. The almost one-and-a-half minute long clip is accompanied by the song “Freedom” by US superstar Beyoncé, which has also been played at Harris’ campaign events. “In this election, each of us is faced with the question of what kind of country we want to live in,” says the US Vice President in the video. She was proposed on Sunday by her boss, US President Joe Biden, as the Democrats’ replacement candidate for the November election after he withdrew.
“There are people who think we should be a country of chaos, fear and hate, but we, we choose something else. We choose freedom,” the 59-year-old continued in the background. It is about the freedom of people to be able to decide about their own bodies and the freedom to live in safety from gun violence.
“We are choosing a future where no child lives in poverty, where we can all afford health care, and where no one is above the law.” The video includes appearances by the Democrat and newspaper clippings with headlines about Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
