Russia repeatedly targets Ukraine’s energy supply. There were several strikes during the night as well. In return, a military facility in the annexed Crimea is said to have been hit.
Energy facilities in neighboring Ukraine have once again been hit in Russia’s nighttime drone and missile attacks. The facilities in the Zhytomyr and Chernihiv regions were affected, the electricity supplier Ukrenerho announced on Facebook. In the area around Zhytomyr, the energy supply to households and industry was temporarily out, but was largely restored in the morning. Repair work is ongoing. According to the Ukrainian armed forces, Russia used 22 drones and at least one Iskander-M missile for the attack.
According to air defense, 20 drones were intercepted. However, the military of both warring parties always report a high interception rate, while there is often massive damage on the ground.
Ukrainian media published images of an impact in the city of Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region. Authorities have not yet provided any information on the damage, and it is also unclear whether the impact was caused by the reported Iskander missile.
On the other side, there were also several explosions in Crimea, which has been annexed by Russia since 2014. Videos show a large fire. According to unconfirmed media reports, an ammunition depot near the Saki military airport was hit. The Ukrainian General Staff confirmed in a statement at least the attack on the Saki military airport in Crimea without giving details of the weapons used or the possible damage caused. The Russian Defense Ministry, however, did not comment on the attack, only reporting the shooting down of drones over the Rostov and Kursk regions.
