The Jewish state warns its archenemies. Iran and its allies Hezbollah and Hamas would pay dearly for aggression against Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned Iran and its proxy groups in the region against attacking Israel. “We will exact a heavy price for any act of aggression against us, from wherever it may come,” he said at a briefing with home front commanders, according to his office.
Israel is in a state of maximum readiness for every eventuality, he added. This applies both to defense and possible attack options.
After the targeted killing of a high-ranking leader of the Islamist Hamas on Wednesday night, Iran and Hamas threatened Israel with retaliation. According to Hamas, its foreign chief Ismail Haniya was killed in an Israeli attack in Tehran. The Israeli government has not yet commented on the matter.
News of Haniya’s killing came just hours after an Israeli airstrike on a suburb of the Lebanese capital Beirut killed Fuad Shukr, a senior Hezbollah commander, according to the Israeli army. The Shiite militia, which is allied with Iran, is also threatening retaliation.
