Right-wing extremist riots: rioters attack another British migrant shelter

Violence continues to spread in Great Britain. Right-wing rioters attack two hotels where asylum seekers are housed.

In anti-Muslim riots in Britain following the Southport massacre, rioters attacked another accommodation for asylum seekers. A mob threw objects at the hotel in Tamworth, northeast of Birmingham, reported Sky News.

Clips on social media showed part of the building being set on fire. There was no official confirmation of this. Police spoke of “violent acts of banditry” and said an officer was injured.

Days of violence

The ongoing violence broke out after three girls were stabbed to death and eight other children and two adults were injured, some seriously, in Southport, northwest England on Monday. Rumors were spread on social media that the perpetrator was a Muslim migrant. Police stressed that the 17-year-old suspect was born in Great Britain. His parents are from Rwanda.

In Rotherham, northern England, a shelter for asylum seekers was also massively attacked: rioters smashed windows, attacked police officers and in some cases entered the building. Ten officers were injured.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a tough crackdown. Right-wing hooligans were responsible for the riots. They would receive their just punishment, said Starmer. The head of government has only been in office for a month.
