Middle East: Lebanon: Two dead in Israeli attack

The threatened major counterattack against Israel following the targeted killing of a Hezbollah commander has not yet taken place. However, the attacks between Israel’s army and the militia continue.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, two people were killed in a suspected Israeli attack in Lebanon. They were members of the Hezbollah militia, according to Lebanese security sources. The incident reportedly occurred in the border town of Taibe. Israel’s army announced that it had attacked members of the Lebanese Hezbollah in the area.

According to reports, Israeli forces attacked other targets of the pro-Iranian organization in the neighboring country. At the same time, numerous projectiles from Lebanon hit Israeli territory. There were initially no reports of injuries.

A possible major attack by the Iran-backed Hezbollah on Israel has been expected for days. Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah has vowed revenge after military commander Fuad Shukr was deliberately killed in an Israeli attack.

Since the terrorist attack on October 7, Hezbollah in Lebanon has repeatedly attacked Israel in “solidarity with Hamas” in the Gaza Strip.
