Russia’s war against Ukraine: Ukraine attacks Russian fuel tanker in port

Ukraine is also deliberately attacking the Russian military’s fuel supply in the hinterland. A large port in southern Russia is now said to have been hit.

According to official reports, a ferry loaded with fuel tanks caught fire and sank in a port in the southern Russian region of Krasnodar due to Ukrainian shelling. The crisis team of the Krasnodar region reported this to Russian news agencies. According to the district administration, there were a total of 30 tanks on board the railway ferry. The attack was recorded on video by local residents. It shows large flames and huge black clouds of smoke rising from an object in the port.

Two people were still missing. “At this point, 17 crew members have already been rescued,” wrote the governor of the Krasnodar region, Veniamin Kondratiev, on his Telegram channel. The search for the missing people will continue.

The port of Kavkaz in the Krasnodar region is on the opposite side of the Crimean peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014. At the same time, there was a missile alert in Crimea.

According to unconfirmed information from Russian Telegram channels, the ship was attacked with a Ukrainian Neptune anti-ship missile. However, the official range of this weapon is 300 kilometers. The front line is further away.

Moscow uses the port intensively to supply its troops in its war of aggression against Ukraine. Ukraine, in turn, repeatedly attacks fuel supply facilities that are important to the Russian military. For example, Ukrainian drones struck a fuel depot in the southern Russian region of Rostov at the beginning of the week. The fire has not yet been extinguished, even after several days.
