CDU veteran Wolfgang Bosbach comes from the deep west of Germany. Why should he of all people be the one to win voters for the CDU in Saxony, Thuringia and Brandenburg?
The man in the blue and white checked shirt refuses to let up. The CDU’s position during the refugee crisis was far too one-sided, he accuses Wolfgang Bosbach, and his party did not recognize the dangers. “Now don’t act as if I was the most ardent supporter of this policy,” Bosbach fires back. “Refugee policy was discussed critically throughout the party at the time.” The man does not look convinced. “You know, I was there at the time,” Bosbach says. Me, not you. A killer argument. His conversation partner does not know what to say.
