Middle East: Violent clashes in the West Bank again

Israel’s military has been taking action against militant Palestinians in the West Bank for days. Now violent incidents are occurring in a settlement.

In violent incidents in the occupied West Bank, the Israeli army says it has “neutralized” suspected attackers. A “terrorist” opened fire at a gas station near the Israeli settlement of Karmei Tzur in the evening and his car exploded. Israeli soldiers rushed to the scene and shot the man and “eliminated” him. According to reports, there were injuries. In another incident, terrorists tried to ram a guard in the settlement and entered the building, the army said. Security forces “neutralized” one of the perpetrators.

The soldiers combed the area to make sure that there were no more terrorists there, the Israeli military said in the evening. The situation in the West Bank has worsened significantly since the start of the Gaza war following the massacre by the Islamist Hamas in Israel on October 7, 2023. Since then, more than 640 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military operations, confrontations or their own attacks in the West Bank, according to the Ministry of Health.
