The town of Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine is repeatedly the target of heavy Russian attacks. Now there are more deaths.
According to official reports, at least three people were killed in new Russian artillery fire in the town of Kostiantynivka in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk. Three men aged between 24 and 69 succumbed to their injuries, the Ukrainian military administration announced. It again called on residents to heed the evacuation orders.
A multi-storey residential building, an administrative building, shops, cars and power lines were damaged in the morning shelling from the Russian side. The strategically important town of Kostiantynivka is a repeated target of Russian attacks.
Moscow: Russian troops continue to advance
The Donetsk region, including the regional capital of the same name, is largely occupied by Russia. Russian troops are continuing to advance there – and want to bring the region known for its mining completely under their control.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported this morning that a village called Kalynowe had been captured. The ministry did not provide any details. There are several villages with this name in different districts in the Donetsk region. There was no confirmation from the Ukrainian side.
British: Russian tactical gains at Wuhledar
According to the British Ministry of Defense, the Russians are also making progress in Vuhledar, which lies southwest of the city of Donetsk. Russia has previously attempted to attack the city, resulting in heavy losses but only minor territorial gains, the ministry said in London.
In August, however, Russian troops made gains in the east and west of Vuhledar. “Over the next month, Russia will likely continue to try to make progress on Vuhledar and threaten the city itself,” the British wrote in their regular update on the X platform.
According to the Kremlin, one of the goals of the Russian invasion, which has been going on for more than two and a half years, is to bring the Donetsk region and the annexed regions of Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson completely under Moscow’s control. Ukraine is defending itself against the war of aggression with Western military aid and wants to liberate all of its territories from Russian occupation.
