At the “Debate Watch Party” in New York, Kamala Harris’ supporters cannot believe their luck. The few Trump fans are aghast.
The first reaction in the audience comes when the two candidates shake hands: “Wow,” one shouts, “Kamala is going way over into Trump’s territory.”
The second reaction follows shortly thereafter: loud applause as she lists her plan for the middle class and small business owners.
And the third reaction soon after: loud booing when Trump reported that Haitian migrants in Ohio were kidnapping and eating the pets of American citizens.
In the Bleu Nuk bar in Brooklyn, the mood is good from the start. No spectators are allowed in the ABC studio in Philadelphia, but at the “Debate Watch Party” in the “Little Haiti” neighborhood, the clapping quickly turns into jeers and the yelling turns into malicious laughter.
