Protest: Miosga’s broadcast disrupted by demonstrators

The topic is actually supposed to be migration and the Union’s K question: North Rhine-Westphalia’s Prime Minister Wüst is a guest on Caren Miosga’s show. But then the ARD broadcast is interrupted.

The ARD talk show “Caren Miosga” was disrupted by demonstrators, apparently in connection with the death of two Kurdish journalists. Shortly after a conversation between the presenter and the North Rhine-Westphalian Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU), shouts suddenly rang out from the back rows of the studio audience, which were initially difficult to understand.

Cloths bearing the portraits of two women bearing the names of Gulistan Tara and Hero Bahadin were held up. According to earlier information from the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), these are two Kurdish journalists who were killed on August 23 in a Turkish drone attack in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq, along with six other people.

The silence must be broken, shouted one activist. Miosga asked the women shouting to state their concerns or leave the studio. The activists were then obviously led out of the studio – invisibly to television viewers – because Miosga thanked them for leaving the studio and advised them to write to the editors with their concerns. After a few minutes, the incident was over.
