The topic is actually supposed to be migration and the Union’s K question: North Rhine-Westphalia’s Prime Minister Wüst is a guest at Caren Miosga’s show. But then an incident occurs.
The ARD talk show “Caren Miosga” was disrupted by demonstrators – apparently in connection with the death of two Kurdish journalists. Shortly after a conversation between the presenter and the North Rhine-Westphalian Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU), shouts suddenly rang out from the back rows of the studio audience, which were initially difficult to understand. The talk show on Sunday evening is a prominent slot in the main program of the public broadcaster ARD – directly after the high-rating “Tatort” crime series.
Cloths bearing the portraits of two women bearing the names Gulistan Tara and Hero Bahadin were held up. According to earlier information from the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), these are two Kurdish journalists who were killed on August 23, along with six other people, in a suspected Turkish drone attack in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq.
The silence of the German media landscape must be broken, shouted an activist. Miosga asked the women shouting to state their concerns or leave the studio. A spokesperson for the show explained in response to a query from the German Press Agency after the show that two viewers had protested. “They were roll-out fabric banners that could not be found during the careful entry checks.” The women were asked to leave the studio by security staff and complied voluntarily. A member of the editorial staff had a conversation with the protesters while the show was still running.
