Despite US mediation efforts, a quick ceasefire between Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Israeli armed forces is not to be expected.
The Israeli army said it targeted hundreds of Hezbollah militia targets in Lebanon on Monday. Since the morning, “more than 300 Hezbollah targets have been attacked,” it said in a statement. It had previously said that 150 air strikes had been carried out between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. (local time) alone.
The Israeli army announced on Monday that it would carry out “more extensive and precise” attacks. It called on the population in southern Lebanon to seek safety.

The conflict between Israel and the pro-Iranian Hezbollah has escalated again in recent days. In a targeted air strike, the Israeli army killed several high-ranking Hezbollah commanders in Beirut and announced the destruction of thousands of rocket launch pads in southern Lebanon.
The pro-Iranian Hezbollah increased its attacks over the weekend. According to Israeli sources, around 150 rockets and drones were fired at Israel on Sunday night alone.
