Following Israel’s serious attacks in its northern neighbour Lebanon, there are fears of a further dangerous escalation in the region.
Even after the massive air strikes in Lebanon that left around 500 people dead, Israel is continuing its attacks in its northern neighbor. The military announced that “Hezbollah terror targets in southern Lebanon” had been attacked again. In the past few hours, the Israeli air force had attacked rocket launch pads, “terror infrastructure” and weapons depots, the statement said.
On October 7, 2023, terrorists from Hamas, an ally of Hezbollah, and other extremist groups killed more than 1,200 people in Israel and took about 250 others hostage in the Gaza Strip. The unprecedented massacre triggered the Gaza War, and since then Hezbollah has been attacking the Jewish neighboring state with rockets almost daily in solidarity with Hamas. Since then, Israel has also repeatedly shelled targets, especially in southern Lebanon.
Israel wants to drive Hezbollah out of the border area in order to ensure the security of its citizens in the north and to enable displaced persons to return.
