Baerbock reprimands Russian journalists in front of cameras (video)

After a Russian journalist tries to intercept the German Foreign Minister, he forces his way into the picture at the press conference. Baerbock scolds him in front of the cameras.

During a statement by Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock to journalists on the grounds of the UN headquarters in New York, there was irritation around a Russian media representative. A reporter from the First Channel of Russian state television tried to intercept the Green politician on her way to the appearance before German journalists. He then tried to push himself next to the Foreign Minister before Baerbock’s statement began.

After employees of the Foreign Office asked the man to join the ranks of the other journalists, Baerbock also intervened. She forcefully demanded that the journalist join the line so that the press meeting could begin.

Baerbock said at the beginning of her statement: “Good day from me too, here at the United Nations General Assembly, the place where the beat of the world is always most clearly felt.” This can be seen “even in such small things as press conferences, that if not everyone is prepared to follow the rules, the world or even a press statement can get out of sync.” It is all the more important “to come together with those who want to keep this heartbeat alive,” she added, also against the backdrop of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
