Consequences of the pandemic: Patient protectors: “Sad play” about dealing with Corona

In the traffic light dispute, the Corona investigation is in danger of falling by the wayside. According to experts, some points urgently need to be put to the test next time.

The German Foundation for Patient Protection accuses the traffic light of turning the planned Corona investigation into a “tragedy”. “It’s not bad to make mistakes. The only bad thing is not wanting to learn from mistakes,” said board member Eugen Brysch to the German Press Agency in Berlin.

Brysch called for the Corona measures to finally be put to the test, especially in long-term care. “Obviously, the protection of nursing home residents was inadequate.”

Compulsory vaccination in sight

Demands have also come from the Diakonie to deal with the consequences of the Corona crisis for care. In particular, the temporary vaccination requirement for nursing staff has caused lasting damage.

Foundation board member Brysch also said that one point the Bundestag had to consider was the facility-related vaccination requirement that was decided at the time. “The politically responsible theory was wrong that vaccinated people cannot pass on the virus.”

Brysch also demanded that it be clarified “why a functioning testing strategy and additional staff were missing in the care facilities.” The majority of the staff in the hospitals were unemployed.

FDP versus SPD

The traffic light coalition is currently arguing about the correct approach to Corona policy: Contrary to the SPD’s ideas, the FDP is insisting on a Bundestag study commission. The FDP is “not available” for the Citizens’ Assembly, which is favored by the SPD and consists of randomly selected participants, said FDP Parliamentary Secretary Stephan Thomae to the German Press Agency.
