In Russia, it is necessary to limit the sale of alcohol on weekends. This was announced on Sunday, January 16, by State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev.
According to the parliamentarian, such measures are necessary to protect the health of Russians. He added that this practice is common throughout the world and helps to reduce the amount of alcohol consumption by the population.
“This is a restriction on the sale of alcohol on weekends, as it works in a number of European countries. You can only in bars, but you can’t in stores, ”Khamzaev was quoted by the Ura.ru portal as saying.
In addition, the deputy called for raising the age for the sale of alcohol to 21 years.
On January 3, Khamzaev proposed placing “terrible pictures” on alcoholic beverages, similar to packs of cigarettes. He noted that the main goal of such a step is the desire to protect citizens. The inscription “alcohol kills in any quantity” is mandatory on the container of any alcoholic drink, the deputy added.
On December 16, the results of a survey were published, according to which 75% of Russians aged 35 to 44 drink alcohol. The publication also states that 34% of citizens aged 25–34 lead a sober lifestyle, and the same proportion in the group of respondents over 60 years old.
In October, Khamzaev suggested that Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev toughen responsibility for mass deaths caused by counterfeit alcohol.
In an appeal addressed to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the parliamentarian noted that in 2021 a number of tragic events occurred related to the sale of counterfeit alcoholic products to citizens, which caused mass deaths.
