Arrangement to commit a crime: This sets off alarm bells for the security authorities. Now they are striking in North Rhine-Westphalia – and the accused is only 15.
A 15-year-old suspected Islamist from Wuppertal has been arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a crime. He has been in custody since September 20th on the orders of the local court, as the Düsseldorf Public Prosecutor’s Office announced. The “Spiegel” had previously reported.
He was known to the security authorities and had been taken into preventive custody a few weeks earlier, said a spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office. He initially did not provide any further details. Then more concrete evidence of the teenager’s plans emerged, whereupon pre-trial detention was ordered.
The spokesman did not comment on a possible connection to the fatal knife attack in Solingen. What type of crime the young man is said to have planned and how far the planning went remained unclear at first.
