People: Bruce Springsteen supports Harris and Walz in US election

US musician Springsteen reaches millions of people around the world with his lyrics and songs. Now he is using his influence once again – and is getting involved in the US election campaign.

US musician Bruce Springsteen wants to vote for Democrat Kamala Harris in the November presidential election. “I support Kamala Harris for president and Tim Walz for vice president,” said the 75-year-old in a video that can be seen on his Instagram channel. At the same time, the artist spoke out against the Republican duo Donald Trump and JD Vance. “One of the most consequential elections in our country’s history is about to begin.” Perhaps not since the American Civil War in the 19th century has the country felt as politically, spiritually and emotionally divided as it does now. “It doesn’t have to be like that.”

Trump is the most dangerous presidential candidate of his lifetime, Springsteen warned. His disregard for the sanctity of the constitution, democracy, the rule of law and the peaceful transfer of power should disqualify him from the office of president forever, said the musician. “He doesn’t understand the importance of this country.” With regard to Harris and Walz, he said: The two wanted economic growth that would benefit everyone – “not just a few like me at the top.”

It is hardly surprising that Springsteen speaks out in favor of the Democratic duo. He has been regularly involved in the Democratic election campaign for decades. He remains close friends with former President Barack Obama to this day. The two wrote a book together and had a podcast together. Like US superstar Taylor Swift, who also recently spoke out in support of Harris, Springsteen has a wide reach.
