Israel’s army announces the killing of Mohammed Abdullah in an attack in the West Bank. Islamic Jihad, which is allied with Hamas, did not initially confirm the death.
The Israeli army says it has killed the commander of the militant Palestinian group Islamic Jihad in the Nur Shams refugee settlement in the West Bank. Mohammed Abdullah was “eliminated” in an Israeli attack on the camp in Tulkarem on Thursday, the military said. Islamic Jihad did not initially confirm Abdullah’s death.
According to the Israeli army, Abdullah was the successor to Mohammed Jaber, known as Abu Shujaa, who was killed in an Israeli attack at the end of August. The army said Abdullah was involved in “numerous attacks in the region”. During the military operation, another “terrorist” was killed and, among other things, M-16 rifles were confiscated.
Islamic Jihad allied with Hamas
Islamic Jihad is allied with the radical Islamic group Hamas. Since the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, which was triggered by Hamas’ brutal attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, violence has also increased in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Since then, at least 705 Palestinians have been killed there, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
According to Israeli figures, at least 24 Israelis were killed in attacks by Palestinian militants during the same period.
