Media reports: Joe Biden is coming to Berlin next week

US President Joe Biden apparently wants to make up for his postponed visit to Berlin next week. He had postponed the visit because of Hurricane Milton.

US President Joe Biden will apparently make up for his canceled visit to Germany next Friday. The Reuters news agency and “Spiegel” reported this on Sunday. Both reports rely on internal sources from government circles. Instead of the state visit with an official banquet and other honorary appointments, a significantly scaled-down working visit is now planned, it is said.

There will be appointments that day with Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Der Spiegel describes the visit as a kind of farewell visit by the outgoing US President. The originally planned Ramstein meeting of Western heads of state and government to support Ukraine should not be rescheduled in view of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s recent European tour.

Biden originally wanted to come longer

Biden had originally planned a longer visit, but postponed it because of Hurricane Milton last week. He wanted to supervise crisis management directly on site. According to reports, the predominant topics, even during the reduced visit, will primarily be the further actions of Ukraine’s Western supporters and the war in the Middle East.
