Middle East war: Israel under fire again – four slightly injured

Hezbollah has been weakened by Israeli attacks. But it can still fire so many rockets at once that some reach their target despite Israel’s missile defenses.

According to the Israeli emergency service Magen David Adom, four people were slightly injured in a rocket attack from Lebanon on the Israeli town of Karmiel. They were hit by rocket fragments and taken to a hospital.

The Times of Israel newspaper reported that a residential building in a town near Karmiel that was predominantly inhabited by Israeli Arabs had suffered a direct hit. Photos and videos of a destroyed house could be seen on social media.

According to the Israeli army, the area around the city and other places in the Galilee in northern Israel were attacked by around 30 rockets from Lebanon. Most of the bullets were intercepted. However, some were also hit. During the night, 50 rockets had already been fired from Lebanon into an area further east near the city of Safed.

The Shiite militia Hezbollah in Lebanon said it had fired rockets at Karmiel. The militia, which is supported by Iran and allied with Hamas in the Gaza Strip, has been shelling Israel almost daily since the Gaza war began over a year ago. They will continue to do so until there is a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Israel wants to push the militia back north with air strikes and a ground offensive in Lebanon so that around 60,000 evacuated Israelis can return to their communities in northern Israel.
