The Thuringian AfD actually excluded all journalists from their election party. A court expresses doubts that this was really the case.
The Thuringian AfD’s election party has legal repercussions. The Erfurt regional court imposed a fine of 5,000 euros on the party, a spokeswoman said. Several media outlets had previously reported.
The court assumes that the party admitted journalists close to it to the event on the evening of the Thuringian state election, even though it had actually excluded all journalists after a legal dispute. An appeal can be lodged against the decision within two weeks.
The application was submitted by journalists who had already conducted proceedings against the AfD before the event. At the time, they complained that the party did not want to allow some journalists to their election party. The Erfurt regional court ruled the day before the state election that journalists must be admitted to the election party. The party then announced that it would exclude all media representatives, citing the capacity of the event room.
