There are hardly any threads of conversation left between Russia and the attacked Ukraine. Negotiations to exchange prisoners are among the last remaining contacts.
The Russian and Ukrainian armed forces have again exchanged prisoners of war. According to the state agency Tass, 95 prisoners were handed over to the other side, the Defense Ministry in Moscow said.
Russia and Ukraine each handed over 103 prisoners of war at the beginning of September. The exchange that has now taken place was brokered by the United Arab Emirates.
Shortly before, Ukraine said it received the bodies of 501 soldiers back. According to the coordination staff in Kiev, the International Red Cross and several Ukrainian institutions were involved in the return. After experts have identified them, the killed soldiers will be handed over to their families for burial.
No information was given regarding the return of killed Russian soldiers. In the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, which has lasted more than two and a half years, negotiations over the return of the dead or the exchange of prisoners are among the last remaining threads of conversation between the opposing sides.
