Forming a government in Thuringia remains difficult. After the CDU and the BSW, the SPD board is now examining the exploratory results. The Social Democrats are also considering a member survey.
Thuringia’s Social Democrats are considering a member survey before joining a possible coalition government with the CDU and BSW. Several Social Democrats told the dpa before a board meeting in Erfurt that a decision should be made on this, as well as on the results of the exploratory rounds of the three parties.
After the CDU unanimously voted in favor of coalition negotiations and the Sahra Wagenknecht alliance tied them to a condition, it is now the SPD state executive’s turn. It initially remained unclear whether a decision would be made to start coalition negotiations as originally planned.
BSW needs clarification
The background is the Wagenknecht party’s demand, made on Friday evening, to first provide clarity on the peace issue, without which the BSW does not want to enter into coalition negotiations. This puts the “signal on yellow,” said BSW state chairwoman Katja Wolf. She would like to start discussions about this with the CDU and SPD as quickly as possible.
Like the CDU board, the BSW committee has already unanimously approved the exploratory paper. It should be the basis for negotiations for a blackberry coalition.
