What does the left do next? Veteran Gregor Gysi is considering running for the Bundestag again. And he brings other prominent names into play.
Left-wing politician Gegror Gysi is considering running for the Bundestag again. Gysi also believes that former parliamentary group leader Dietmar Bartsch and Thuringia’s Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow can apply for next year’s election.
At some point after the federal party conference, the three of them will get together, said Gysi in Halle. If there is the necessary upswing in the party, “Aktion Silberlocke” will be started. “That means that these three old gentlemen and comrades and guys will then fully intervene in the election campaign. Each of them is trying to achieve a direct mandate,” said Gysi.
Nationwide, the Left is only at three to four percent in surveys. The declared goal is to exceed the five percent hurdle and thus return to the Bundestag with parliamentary group strength. This goal can also be achieved with three direct mandates. Gysi announced that he would provide information about the outcome of the exchange.
Gysi also criticized the course of the other factions in the Bundestag. “If we left the Bundestag, Olaf Scholz would be the most left-wing person there. I can ask.”
